Remember being shocked the first time you saw a fatality in Mortal Kombat? Especially Sub Zero’s? The original Mortal Kombat was developed with digitized sprites based on actors, as opposed to animated cartoon graphics. Throughout the series, the game was known for its extreme violence which included fatalities, uppercuts that sprayed blood and launched players into the air, and its theatrical special moves.Before it became more common, Sub Zero’s fatality in Mortal Kombat 1 was a great moment in gaming. There is something about having a head ripped off with the spine still attached to it. It shocked a lot of people and opened the door for many other Mortal Kombat games with even gorier fatalities.
